Fluid mechanics is essentially the study of fluid in motion (fluid in dynamic mode) or at rest (fluid in stationary mode). CFD is particularly dedicated to the former, fluids that are in motion, and how the fluid behaviour influences processes that may include heat transfer and possibly chemical reactions in combusting flows.
